Re the superb owl meme: it should be better-known than it is that "superb" is a fairly common adjective in bird-names. Wikipedia lists these:

Such good names!
My favorite little tiny fish that I see when I swim in the sea in Cayman: the fairy basslet.
I'm especially fond of the mildly incongruous ones like "paradise flycatcher."
